Over-Built versus Under-Priced

When we introduced our Golf Grips at the PGA Show, we were so proud.  Oliver came up with a great design. They were made with 6,000 lb rated nylon strapping, heavy duty upholstery thread, buckles rated for 250 pounds, D-rings rated at 60 lbs and industrial strength hook and loop / Velcro rated at 5,000 closures, the number of times the Velcro will maintain its current tear strength after so many opens and closes.

We proudly designed and hand-made our Grips to last forever.

Our booth was swamped! Our ‘Bag Tag on Steroids’ was so unique!  Our embroidered patch enabled golfers to show off their colors, while helping them centralize their gear and carrying and air-drying several golf gloves at once.

We had lots of interest.

We priced them at $24.95.

Attendees lost interest due to our pride pricing!

But from there we discovered that our solution was not just golf-centric. It made sense for so many other applications. Our Grips evolved.

We also lowered our prices yet kept the following in place.
-Hand made in Chicago
-Exact same rugged, high-quality components.

Yes our Grips are over-built. PROUDLY!

Yes our Grips are under-priced. Even more PROUDLY!

We learned that pride does not encourage purchases.  Value encourages purchases.

Many of our customers have had their grips for years!

We proudly over-build our Grips so you can under-worry about your gloves and gear.

An Ode to our crush...

Oh Velcro dear friend, let us count all the ways….you make gloves better, so worthy of praise!

Yes, Hook and Loop is correct to say, why not give papa George De Mestral his props today.

For without Papa G, many of us would not play the games we  so love since gear would  fly ‘way,

From palms holding so tight. No more ‘ripping sound’, so cool, that glove was on right!

No securing, no air-drying,  gloves would go missing, we spent so much money, and now who is dissing.

They were left in wrong bags, so sweaty, so  dank. In the dark for so long they permanently STANK!

Gloves are a tool that we need and do trust, to keep them secure our Grips are a must

Your gloves will stay true, your palm no more blue, having some fun since the job’s getting done

For so many jobs, V Gloves are the best. We love V Gloves as our grips do attest.

Are Glove Wrist Straps really worth it?

4/27/2018

Choosing the right glove is equivalent to choosing the right tool.

Why are some tools more expensive than others?

Is it the quality? Sometimes it is the brand. Many times it is what materials are used to make the glove. Other times it could be the amount of labor that goes into making the glove or where it was made.

But all things being equal….if a glove fits and appears to be able to do the job, why even get the glove with a velcro wrist strap and instead save a few bucks and get a glove with a ‘Elastic Wrist Cuff’ (EWC).  It saves money and gets the job done, right?

Only if you don’t really need gloves in the first place….maybe to protect that man’icure or at the other end of the spectrum, you are handling stuff and waste that will render your gloves useless or undesirable once the task is done.

Surgical gloves come to mind.  Also those brown canvas gloves you are wearing to handle some nasty waste….let’s not get too graphic…but I think you get the point.

What it comes down to is whether you spend $7 or $70 on a pair of gloves, get ones that become a 2nd layer of protection or added grip for your task at hand…gloves with a velcro wrist strap!
  • Could you imagine a baseball player’s batting gloves without wrist-strap? Those bats would go flying everywhere!
  • How about a golfer using a glove with only an EWC? You’d need a second set of clubs to make up for the ones flying into the woods or into the water on the 3rd hole.
  • Imagine an MMA or UFC fighter with gloves that only had only had elastic wristbands. They might as well go bare-knuckled!....that wouldn’t be a sport then, would it?

In addition to firmly securing the glove to your hand, there are five other ways wrist-straps pay for themselves?

Velcro Wrist Straps enable you to….
  1. Air Dry your gloves, outside of a bag or pocket – Stop that Stank and Crunchiness
  2. Keep your gloves close-by and accessible – Pockets do not do the trick...ever loose a glove even when you were SURE it was there?
  3. Visually verify where they are – Out of sight, Out to get a new pair!
  4. Keeps a pair of gloves together, making it harder to lose them
  5. Rinse off that dirt and grime – hold that strap while you wash off that sweat or mud…and then air-dry them (see bullet 1.)

Wrist straps offer loss prevention, air dry-ability, visual verification, loss prevention and peace of mind when secured to a holder or Velcro.

Our Velcro-powered Grips are glove holders that embrace all the functionalities of your gloves Velcro Wrist-straps.

YES, wrist-straps are worth it! They pay for themselves, especially when paired up with one of our Grips!

Which of our Grips fits the way you use your gloves?

ARE GLOVES TOOLS?

4/19/2018

According to Dictionary.com,

Tool
noun
1.  an implement, especially one held in the hand, as
a hammer, saw, or file, for performing or facilitating mechanical operations.
…
4.  the machine itself; a machine tool.
5.  anything used as a means of accomplishing a task or purpose:
Education is a tool for success.

Glove
noun
1.   a covering for the hand made with a separate sheath for each finger and for the thumb.

  • Does a glove improve your golf game?
  • Is a boxer a boxer without her boxing gloves?
  • Should you handle rough cut lumber without work gloves?
  • How many baseball players bat bare-handed?
  • How many football receivers go gloveless?
  • Does a SWAT team depend on their tactical gloves?
  • I have seen snow skiers in shorts, but never without ski gloves!
  • Ever see a barehanded professional Soccer Goalie?
  • Do ‘stanky’ gloves promote good UFC or MMA work-outs?!

If a tool is properly stored, dry and maintained, does it last longer?

If a glove is properly stored, dry and maintained, does it help you do your job, complete your task or make you a better competitor?
Gloves are used as a means of accomplishing a task or purpose.
Gloves = Tools

Treat your gloves as you would your tools.

You’ve spent good money to help you do something important, fun or safe. If you can’t find them, or the gloves are stored wet or not close by, they are less effective.

Keep your gloves accessible, air-dry and close by.

Notice that all the tasks above use gloves with adjustable wrist straps. Velcro wrist-straps have an advantage over ‘elastic wrist cuffs’……THESE GLOVES DO NOT SLIP OFF!  An additional benefit of having Velcro wrist-straps is their built in ability be hung from, secured….GRIPPED.

Keep your gloves accessible, air-dry and close by….with any one of our Grips!

Keep Safe, Focused and Gripped!
