Are Glove Wrist Straps really worth it?

Choosing the right glove is equivalent to choosing the right tool.

Why are some tools more expensive than others?

Is it the quality? Sometimes it is the brand. Many times it is what materials are used to make the glove. Other times it could be the amount of labor that goes into making the glove or where it was made.

But all things being equal….if a glove fits and appears to be able to do the job, why even get the glove with a velcro wrist strap and instead save a few bucks and get a glove with a ‘Elastic Wrist Cuff’ (EWC).  It saves money and gets the job done, right?

Only if you don’t really need gloves in the first place….maybe to protect that man’icure or at the other end of the spectrum, you are handling stuff and waste that will render your gloves useless or undesirable once the task is done.

Surgical gloves come to mind.  Also those brown canvas gloves you are wearing to handle some nasty waste….let’s not get too graphic…but I think you get the point.

What it comes down to is whether you spend $7 or $70 on a pair of gloves, get ones that become a 2nd layer of protection or added grip for your task at hand…gloves with a velcro wrist strap!
  • Could you imagine a baseball player’s batting gloves without wrist-strap? Those bats would go flying everywhere!
  • How about a golfer using a glove with only an EWC? You’d need a second set of clubs to make up for the ones flying into the woods or into the water on the 3rd hole.
  • Imagine an MMA or UFC fighter with gloves that only had only had elastic wristbands. They might as well go bare-knuckled!....that wouldn’t be a sport then, would it?

In addition to firmly securing the glove to your hand, there are five other ways wrist-straps pay for themselves?

Velcro Wrist Straps enable you to….
  1. Air Dry your gloves, outside of a bag or pocket – Stop that Stank and Crunchiness
  2. Keep your gloves close-by and accessible – Pockets do not do the trick...ever loose a glove even when you were SURE it was there?
  3. Visually verify where they are – Out of sight, Out to get a new pair!
  4. Keeps a pair of gloves together, making it harder to lose them
  5. Rinse off that dirt and grime – hold that strap while you wash off that sweat or mud…and then air-dry them (see bullet 1.)

Wrist straps offer loss prevention, air dry-ability, visual verification, loss prevention and peace of mind when secured to a holder or Velcro.

Our Velcro-powered Grips are glove holders that embrace all the functionalities of your gloves Velcro Wrist-straps.

YES, wrist-straps are worth it! They pay for themselves, especially when paired up with one of our Grips!
